This wearable heated blanket is a large, soft shawl with a zip and built-in heating wires. Zip it closed over your shoulders so it stays put and your hands remain free, plug it in via USB, choose a heat setting with the button on the chest and feel the warmth in around 15 seconds. It also works as a lap blanket at the desk or a foot warmer on the sofa.

Three heat settings from one button
Each press of the button cycles through low, medium and high heat, so you can match the warmth to the room and to how chilly you feel. The shawl runs on low voltage (5 V) via USB and works with a power bank, so you are not tied to a wall socket while you move about.
The construction
Heating wire in a double spiral between two soft layers
The warmth comes from carbon fibre wire laid in a double spiral, which the manufacturer states is waterproof and flame-retardant. The wires sit between a rib-knit outer layer and a soft fleece lining, keeping the heat close to your body. The outer layer is a jacquard knit in a cotton blend and the lining is soft waffle fleece.

One blanket, several ways to wear and use it
- Shawl: drape it over your shoulders and fasten the zip so it stays in place.
- Lap blanket: lay it across your knees and thighs at the desk or on the sofa.
- Foot warmer: wrap it around your feet when the floor is cold.
